My name is Reginalde “Reggie” Tonsul, a foreign language teacher from the Dominican Republic with Haitian and Dominican roots. My multicultural background inspired my lifelong passion for languages and education.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Northeastern Illinois University (2015) and an Associate Degree in Foreign Languages with Honors from Truman College, where I studied French and Spanish.
For 14 years (2009–2023), I taught English to international students at Northwestern University, helping students develop the language skills needed to succeed academically and professionally. I later taught Spanish to freshmen at Lane Tech High School in Chicago.
Today, I am self-employed, teaching French and Spanish at the Albany Park Library in Chicago, where I continue helping students and community members learn new languages and build confidence.
Outside the classroom, I enjoy dance and music, especially Merengue, Salsa, Bachata, Cumbia, Reggaeton, and Reggae. As a Dominican, dance has always been part of my life—I’ve been dancing since I was two years old.
